REPETITION IN HADIS: FOCUS ON THE HADITH "INNAMA AL-A'MAL BINNIYAT ..."

Abstract

This study analyzes the aspect of repetition of the hadith text "innama al-A'mal binniyat ..." from the collection of hadiths of al-Arbain al-Nawawiyyah. It is aims to identify the type and function of repetition in the hadith "innama al-A'mal binniyat ...". This study uses a qualitative approach with a textual analysis design. Research data were obtained from the texts of books, journals, articles, dissertations, thesis and other scholarly papers. The results showed that this hadith contains three types of repetition; word repetition, phrase repetition and meaning repetition which are intended as an affirmation, showing priority, warning and as a strategy to remember the essence of the hadith. It is hoped that a study of repetition or similar phenomena can be done on all the hadiths of al-Arba’in al-Nawawiah. It is also recommended that quantitative studies can be carried out on the hadith of this arba'un method. Aspects of teaching and leraning may also be a useful finding.
